Have you ever heard of the term ‘Almost Gas Free?’ Probably not, unless you've seen me biking around town.
As an environmentally conscious person and regular bike commuter, I came up with this tagline about a year ago as he was riding up Admiral Way in West Seattle surrounded by cars spewing out exhaust when he thought to myself, "Hey, I'm Gas Free" by not commuting by car, but knowing I am not completely gas-free, it seemed like “Almost Gas Free” was more appropriate. You can probably guess the other meaning of the double entendre.
From my bike, I wanted to get others to stop and think about their impact on the environment so he decided to develop a bike shirt design with a graphic designer friend Tony Taske (www.kastdesignco.com). Initial concepts drew lots of comments from drivers and other cyclists.
i showed the designs to my cycling friends, and the group jumped on the concept, and now about 10 riders will be proudly wearing the AGF bike from Seattle to Portland in July 2009. We have already done Flying Wheels Summer Century.
A number of us are turning 40 this year so these events are a good opportunity to challenge ourselves and also promote a good cause.
